Iranian director wins in Japanese filmfest

TEHRAN, Oct. 13 (MNA) –Iranian filmmaker Omid Abdollahi won the Grand Prize of the 2015 Sapporo International Short Film Festival and Market.

Abdollahi won the grand and main prize of festival’s 'Filmmakers Section'.

The 10th Sapporo International Short Film Festival and Market was held, October 7-12, in Sapporo, Japan.

Glimmer, Hostess, and Bandage were three short films of Omid Abdollahi which, as representatives of Iran’s cinema, competed with flicks from the Netherlands and Switzerland in the event's 'Filmmakers Section' and 'One Title Section'.

'Filmmakers Section' is the festival’s most significant part. This year the jury was chaired by noted Japanese director Nobuhiko Obayashi and as well as other jurors from France, South Korea and Canada.

Sapporo International Short Film Festival and Market - or Sapporo Short Fest –launched in 2006 featuring short documentaries, animated films, and dramas lasting from several to 30 minutes from countries around the world.
